Broadcasting History

The “Celtic Café Radio Programme” has been broadcasting the best of Celtic music for close to three decades. Originally broadcast as “Celtic Connections Radio Show” for the first ten years. “Celtic Connections Radio” started on broadcasting on WESU FM, Wesleyan University in 1995. Then we expanded to WMRD/WLIS,1150/1420 AM and in Middletown, Connecticut, USA. In September of 2005, “Celtic Café Radio” was formerly launched replacing “Celtic Connections” with a updated format.

Curated Celtic Music

Each show is a collection of music from around the Celtic Universe. Music selections range from traditional (Trad), ballads, cutting edge, contemporary, Celtic rock, folk and new age Celtic. The Celtic Café library is extensive and expansive plus features many rarities listeners cannot hear anywhere else. The perfect blend of music and knowledge of the presenter which makes Celtic Café Radio Programme unique and always worth the listen. Celtic Café where there is always a “story to the music.”

Welcome to the LAND of OZ!

In the Summer of 2012, Celtic Café Radio will expanded its listener base to outside the US Market to Australia. Our new member station is SEYMOUR FM 103.9. Seymour, Australia is a township in Mitchell Shire in the state of Victoria, Australia and is located 98 kilometers (61 mi) north of Melbourne. Coverage is provided to Seymour, Broadford, Nagambie, Avenel, Puckapunyal and Tallarook. As of 2023, Celtic Café Radio is no longer affiliated with Seymour FM.

Pat Laffan Retires

In April 2018, Pat Laffan signed off for the last time. He now devotes his time to traveling the world in search of new and interesting places & peoples. We wish him a Bon Voyage on his trekking the globe! Hear Pat’s last show here!

In May of 2018, Marc Gallagher has assumed the role as the solo host of Celtic Café Radio, keeping up the tradition that Pat started in 1995…”The Best Celtic Music from Around the World!” New theme music was added and a slight change in format with longer sets and more thematic shows. In 2019, our studios moved to Somersworth NH. In 2023 we built a new studio specifically for Celtic Café Radio.
